Case Study: Washington Hospital Center, Project ER One
Learn how Herman Miller worked with Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C., to help design an emergency department with the systems and infrastructure to respond to a catastrophic event.
Designing an emergency department with the systems and infrastructure that equip it to respond to a catastrophic event has been underway for several years at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. "Bridge to ER One" is the result. It's a "living lab" within the hospital's traditional ER designed to expand the limits of capability, scalability, and threat control. Herman Miller was invited to join the process and worked intensively with the design team to identify and sometimes modify products that would perform well under extremely demanding circumstances.
