Sydney, Australia-based designer Charles Wilson was raised on a wheat and cattle farm in New South Wales. Having spent much of his early childhood close to nature, he creates designs that express essential function and honour natural materials. The forms that intrigue him are often rustic in origin.
Wilson studied industrial design at the University of Technology Sydney. After graduating in 1991, he formed a cooperative workshop with fellow graduates and developed a collection of experimental furniture and objects. One of his early designs became part of the permanent collection at Sydney’s Powerhouse Museum in 1996.
“A good dining table should be able to segue from functional worktop to elegant entertaining surface”.
- Charles Wilson
