BIFMA: BIFMA G1-2002 Ergonomics Guideline for VDT (Visual Display Terminal) Furniture Used in Office Work Spaces provides guidance in applying measurable ergonomic principles and design requirements found in ISO 9241-3 and ISO 9241-5 to the dimensions and adjustment ranges of furniture components used for office tasks with VDTs in North America.

BS EN 1335: A European standard for work chairs, providing guidelines for dimensions, testing, safety, and other factors; developed by the British Standards Institute, the national standards body of the UK.

CAL OSHA: California's standard addressing repetitive strain injuries; requires reporting of RSIs in the workplace and includes educational requirements.

CSA Standard Z 412-M89: Canadian Standards Association requirements for moderate-to-intensive computer users; includes adjustment requirements for work chairs as well as standards for computer workstations and accessories, lighting, posture, and use of laptops.

Federal OSHA: New ergonomic guidelines from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration; guidelines are being applied gradually, industry by industry, starting with occupations with the highest risk of injury.

ISO 9241-3 and ISO 9241-5: International Organization for Standardization's widely accepted ergonomic requirements for office work with visual display terminals (VDTs); includes requirements for keyboards, visual display, and workstation layout.
